E:Unknown Dazzle DV Clip (including Firewire card /Cable/Pinnacle Studio 9) £9.97

From Dixons I bought this instore yesterday and it is very good. The card has 2 external firewire ports and 1 internal, the lead connected straight into my Sony mini DV camcorder and the software worked well no dropped frames.
Searched a few other sites and found this to be over £35 still also I got Pinnacle studio plus DVD disc as well inside the box.
The cable is 6 pin 1394 PC to 4 pin DV.
The card is 400 Mbps IEEE 1394.
Software Pinnacle Studio 9 quickStart +Studio Plus (DVD) bonus content.

Don't despair chaps. There is a dv editing kit from PC Line in PC World that only cost £9.99 includes 3 firewire ports, 6 -> 4 pin cable, and MGI videowave. Everything you need for beginners. I'm glad I spotted this product after their 4 port card sold out in their pc parts section for £17.99. I'm still scratching my head wondering what the purpose of an internal port on some cards? Anyone got any ideas what this might be used for? If it was a header connector I would understand but a full IEEE port!

Will the PC LINE version do the same as the Dazzle product. I have a PC without a Firewire port reqd to connect my husbands camcorder to our PC.

We wanted the DAzzle product-not available locally, so have ordered the PC LIne one.

They were selling one of these Dazzle kits for £9.97 in the Aylesbury Currys yesterday (the one next to PC World). Only had one left though - so if you want one get there quickly.

Thats bizarre, cos the IEEE port on my case came with jump connectors to connect to headers on a motherboard, but the one on some firewire card looks like a regular firewire socket. So my question would is, whats the point of having a regular port on the inside of the case? I can't work that one out.

the_tired_one as far as I know, they do exactly the same thing. The only difference would be the supplied software. One is from MGI and the other from Pinnacle. The important part of any video package for me is the means to get the video onto the PC, which is the purpose of the firewire card. Once its on your PC, you can use any video editing software you want. The software supplied with basic kits like this will allow one to download the footage to pc, do simple editing and burn to CD/DVD. Most users would find this adequate for their use.

Be very careful with PCline products, I once brought a TV card and the drivers and software was a joke, besides only supporting windows 98 I had nothing but trouble, including but not limited to picture being grainy while watching tv and becoming clear when recording!.
Also its worth mentioning Coasters tend to perform better then their CD media.
