Grant/Loan to cover Training Costs

Hi all,
Having researched with no success I was hoping someone may have an answer here.
I am currently 2 years into 3 of a training course and have unexpectedly been offered a new role within a bigger company, with more prospects and bigger salary. My current company have funded them first two years so far for me on my course.
Not that you need to know this but I am very pleased this opportunity has come about as I have been feeling miserable and dissatisfied with my role at my current company, despite raising concerns. I believe they will understand my reasons to want to better myself, my line manager already has.
However, they could be a possibility they may look to recoup the funds they have spent on me so far, if so, does anyone know of a grant/student loan that will cover my first 2 years costs so that I can pay back in full?
Thanks

They can only do this if there is a specific agreement in place. Even then the amount recouped must be reasonable and proportionate.
Have you signed such an agreement or is it specifically spelt out in your employment contract? It just being in a company policy or employee handbook is unlikely to be sufficient.
Even if it is in your contract, unlike virtually all other aspects, you still need to have specifically accepted such a term for it to be legally binding.0 -

yes, i signed an agreement, it was basically the section taken out the company handbook on it's seperate documentation.
I dont mind if they want paying back but obviously it's either a) a sensible arrangement or b) somewhere I can get a grant/student loan and pay it back as one that way?
