Hi, I am looking for ideas on what kind of a hamper to give to my grandparents. They are both in their 80's, Gran cant use any smellies, both are starting to forget things a bit, like the odd tipple. Its their 60th Wedding Anniversary next year and could use this as a theme. Ideas please!!

I have done a bird themed hamper for my elderly neighbours who are late 70s/early 80s I think.
Haven't worked out how to link properly but this is a copy of a post I wrote about it on the finished basket thread:
This has motivated me to do one for my lovely, elderly neighbours (who are like grandparents to my children). Decided to do a bird themed one as they like feeding the birds in their garden. I got:
Lined basket £4 (was lovely and worth the extra price)
Bird Calender £2.99
Roosting pouch £1
Wooden bird feeder £2.99
Peanuts £1
Bell shaped bird seed thingy £1
Packet of fat balls £1
Magnet pad with picture of birds on front 50p
So a total of £14.50. It looks lovely wrapped in cellophane and tied with some burgundy organza that I had which matches part of the pattern in the basket.0 -
Hi poohzee, how about putting together things with a 'diamond' theme? eg 'Diamonds are forever' James bond music/film (probably not one of my best ideas but you get the idea?)
Hot water bottle and cozy
warm socks (matching)
nice slippers
gloves or mitts
a printed coupon saying you'll do jobs for them around the house?Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Did a treat hamper for my Grandparents every year putting in luxury food items that they'd never dream of treating themselves to like chocs, biscuits, cake, cheeses, tipples, etc.
Not overly exciting I know, but having been from the wartime years they'd never have bought these.
Perhaps you could go for a white theme to represent diamonds?

How about a set of miniatures of drinks they might like but not normally try? Add two nice 'tasting glasses' and some after dinner mints, toffees or savoury treats. To give it another boost how about a book on the area they grew up (you can normally buy these from the library) they can read together, or a copy of their favourite movie?0

I once made a memory hamper for my friend. I went back to the eighties when we were teenagers and searched e-bay etc for things that evoked memories e.g. film, music, sweet/food, newspaper, game etc. Might be more difficult going back to year in question but still possible with a bit of research I'm sure. Good luck!1% challenge - £4018 - reduce by 100 payments of £41.0

We did one of these for H's grandparents. We included loats of their favourite non-perishable treat foods that they didn't feel they could justify buying, so included a small bottle of cherry brandy, some wine, some preserves, biscuits, favourite toffees, some decent cans of beer, a few of the small size Christmas puds, tinned puddings etc.
I think we also included some stilton but I think we gave that to them seperately so it didn't smell everything out:rotfl:MFIT No. 810
