Hi all,
I'm unsure of the right place to post this really, but I am in the market for a decent capacity MP3 player, as I've just signed up for a half marathon (gulp) and I need it to train with.
I don't want an i-pod because I don't want to use I-tunes. I want a flash-based player rather than hard-drive as I'll be mostly running with it.
Does anyone have the creative v or v+?
If so, what's it like? Is it small enough to run with it in a waist pack? Are the controls easy to use?
I will never use it for watching video or photo, so not bothered about those features.
What matters to me is sound quality, ease of use, battery life.
Thanks in advance...
Ellie
P.S. If you have a different MP3 about 4gb that you'd recommend, I'd be grateful for the name too!

I have a creative zen v 1gb and i love it.I`ve always had cheapo mp3 players before but after seeing my daughters zen 2gb i treated myself . The controls are pretty easy to use, you can have different playlists, put pics on, i`ve not done that, but must admit cos i`m not used to putting new tracks on it i do struggle but my son does it no problem. Its only small so should`nt be a problem in a waist pack, also has a lock on it so it won`t switch off or move tracks. The battery life is good and easy to just plug into pc to charge up.
Hope that helps.0 -
I have one too and its great - to move a track its just a matter of flicking the middle joystick with your nail - dead easy. Very easy to make playlists up and also you can delete a track from the player if you dont like it.
I use mine with Seinheiser (sp?) in-ear headphones and the sound quality is great. You get quite a long time between charges (I listen to mine on the bus to work and can happily get 10 days between charges)
You can also download Zencasts (creavitves version of Podcasts) and talking books from the likes of audible.co.uk
Very happy with mine.Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0 -
thanks for that!
I think I might go and treat myself with my birthday money...
Are there any must-have accessories for it? Do they need a skin thing like most people seem to use with the i-pod?
THanks

I bought creative zen which I loved but after 3 months it dies. The earphone is only 2.5mm and this size is notoriuosly unreliable, I am now waiting for it to be replaced.
I have since bought Transcend Tsonic 840 4gb mp4 player although they do make similar spec as MP3. they both have 3.5mm earphone socket which is more robust0 -
I have a creative zen 6 gig and a creative zen stone (the tiny one like ipod) and both are brilliant and work on a drag and drop file transfer . My kids have the zen 6gig each as well but am getting my son the 2 gig stone for xmas as he wants a smaller player to go in his pocket .Amazon have the best prices for these I've found . good luck0

I love mine and use it for running...yes, you can get accessories. I have the skin for mine (from Creative) which I keep on it to avoid scratches. I wouldn't recommend the arm band that Creative do...when I used it running, it rubbed badly.:hello: TTC since 11/090

Thanks for those replies, they were all really helpful.
I have made my mind up, I'm off to hunt one down today. Lots of places have the 4gb one half price at the moment, but they're all out of stock!:mad:Comping since July 2007.

Have you tried Google search for MP4 Player. 4GB would give you 1000+ tunes, should get you to the pain barrier at least. Most seem to have 6-8 hours battery life and come with all the bits and bobs you'll need for it to function. Couple of sites worth a quick look are;
www.digitaldealsuk.com
www.MCHMedia.co.uk
Would stay away from ebay, couple of friends got caught out brought 4GB players and when they got them they were only 1GB.0
