    Hi OP,
I tried taking out a consolidation loan, and thankfully was declined, it made me take stock of things and I realised if I took control I could pay of my debt much quicker than the term of the consolidation loan I applied for.
I've been able to reduce this time scale even more by looking through all the things I bought on all those credit cards and selling quite a lot of them.
As others have already mentioned go over to the debt free wannabes and post an SOA people will be very honest, but also very helpful with ideas on how you can manage and pay of your debt.
I can honestly say that being declined for a consolidation loan is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
I realise that right now the consolidation loan may seem like the answer as it probably has lower monthly payments, but it will cost you more in the long run.
