National advice group True Potential has distanced itself from an 'inaccurate' and 'unsolicited' email sent by a sales director promoting its defined benefit (DB) pension transfer service to an IFA.

The email fails to mention that clients of IFAs who use this service will be put into a restricted investment proposition and True Potential's own Sipp.

‘Any adviser introducing to this service is doing so knowing the tax wrapper and discretionary investment solution clients will end up in,’ he said. ‘So you’re making an introduction to a restricted service and this is clearly not independent advice.’
  • I think my pension pot transfer was maybe superceeded by larger ones, so they decided to park it. But I guess I'll never know. Doesn't seem I made a good choice when I picked them. Thank goodness I never have to deal with a pension transfer again. I'll take my pension, write off the CETV value, and hope I can struggle through the rest of my life on what I've got.
Thank you all for your comments and help.
