M&S sofa fabric supplier details request

Hello forum users,

I want to custom build a footstool to match my M&S sofas (which I am very pleased with). Yes, I know M&S do matching footstools but theirs is the same height as the seats which is too high for me. However, M&S have just stopped selling my sofa fabric by the meter (sod's law, I know).

I thought I would ask who supplies their sofa fabric, in case they have the odd end of rolls on a shelf somewhere. However, M&S refuse point blank to tell me.

I have also tried the company that makes M&S furniture, called Westbridge. They also refuse to tell me who supplies the fabric they use when building the sofas. They will sell me a set of matching legs but they won't tell me where the fabric comes from. It's all very weird. It's not like I'm a competitor. I only want 1m!

If anyone knows contact details for the company(s) that supplies M&S sofa fabric I would be very grateful.

Write (don't e-mail) to their Head Office and explain what you are looking for and why. A polite letter can often get a more positive response than other methods of contact - must be worth a stamp. Not sure if you've mentioned when contacting whomever you have tried so far, but asking them if you can purchase a meter of fabric from them directly rather than where to try- I know you have said you are not a competitor but if they have any concerns at all, they may refuse to give away details because of contractual agreements.


If you make it clear what you need and that you are happy to buy from them here and now, it may be seen as a quick and easy transaction for them rather than a potential liability to their contracts which I'm sure must have "sworn to secrecy" somewhere in the fine print!

I will try another phone call following jenniewb's advice on Monday and, if that doesn't work, I will write a letter along the lines suggested by Marcon.

I will let you know how this turns out in the end.
