Virgin Media - Signup in someone else's name?

Not completely bankruptcy related...

I defaulted with VM as part of my bankruptcy a few years back.

I want the Vivid 200, and £70 cashback etc. If I apply it asks for last 3 years history, they'll match me to my old house and presumably decline as previous debt/bankruptcy on file - anyone got any experience?

Alternative option is filling it out as if it's someone else's account, ticking no to "Do you currently live at this address" and they then complete their address details for the credit check.

Only problem is I don't want my address appearing on their credit file (know there is no link to me, but it might cause them issues, especially with mortgage/re-mortgage, if they've got a random address listed).

Anyone got any experience of them and what happens if you pick no to living at the address? I assume they only search on the old address, but don't want them to create a new credit agreement on the report as the new address

I'd be happy to put an app through in my name, but presumably be declined....they'd then be suspicious of a 2nd application at that address!!

I legitimately have Virgin service at an address I don't live at. It hasn't caused me any problems. I would think the address you give them for the bank account you are paying from needs to be accurate.

It certainly hasn't linked my credit record with the address that Virgin provides service to.

  • Thanks - did you just sign up online and tick no to the 'do you currently live at this [the installation] address'?

Benefits me because I don't have to worry about being turned down, and the person signing up because they've got a thin credit file - and I'll give them extra or something for their effort!

Correct. All this does is give them a different address for correspondence and a match between the address of the bank account used to pay the account.
