Can I was dralon curtains?

I have a whole set of heavy dralon curtains which are years old but still in good nick. I can take them apart and make the 4 pairs I need for my new living room and they will fit well, but they are pretty dirty.
Can I wash them? I know dry cleaning costs a fortune and I think it never really cleans things all that well.
These have no washing instructions, but the couple of times I have cleaned them in the past I have taken them to the cleaners.
Edit - Excuse the idiotic typo in the heading - idiot!!

Ive never had a problem washing 'dry clean only' curtains.
Just was one first to see how it goesmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I think Dralon infers that they are synthetic rather than a natural fibre so they should wash well.
I'd suggest a cool wash and maybe a washing liquid. Don't overfill the machine, a low spin speed and a good drying day.0 -
If they're too big for a normal washing machine, try one in a machine in the launderette, if you have one nearby.
I've never dry-cleaned curtains. In 2004 the dry cleaners estimated £50 minimum (due to the size) of some curtains which had only cost £40 to buy, so I thought it was worth risking them in the wash, and they lasted another ten years, being washed twice a year.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
If the curtains have linings I find it's the linings that shrink when you wash curtains.0

I have washed the first curtain by hand today (my washing machine is knackered, but that is another story!) and so far they look good. It is certainly a lot cheaper than dry cleaning and saves me having to drive into town with them.
Thanks for all the comments.0 -
As dralon is synthetic material I would have thought they should be fine0
