Well, describe everything you did in more detail over those years. This will demonstrate your personal qualities from a positive point of view. At least, it will be reckoned to you in dignity.0

yes, you need to put your time as a carer down - and your volunteering role too.
As others have said, list the various skills you have used and don't forget 'organizational' skills - don't underestimate yourself.
This is a valuable way to show how you have been occupied.

Definitely put it down.
Apart from the gap on the CV being explained imho it's a selling point that you've done it as a young person, so try to see it as a positive and as others have said make sure you put down what you actually did. If there is a big gap after you've left school it just looks like you've been dossing around on benefits, and that's the last thing you want.
Volunteering experience is good too, so make the most of that.
