iPod Touch

Hey all,
I'm looking into getting the new iPod Touch which has just came out. I've been reading all about it and the 16gb version looks really good. I'm currently using my phone (Sony Ericsson W850i) to play music when out and about but it only has 1gb memory and I'm looking for something a bit more flash
Anyone have one that can recommend it ? Also where's the cheapest place to get one ? The ones I've seen so far are £269 which I think is the standard price for it.

personally i would have a good play with one 1st.
i know theres plenty of haters but i love my ipod however i dint know how practical in real use the touch screen is.
ive had plenty of touch screen phones so i dont know how i would like it.
no stores nearby you can have a play?0 -
I've visited some places but they either seem to not stock it or don't have a display model out. Asda for example have a card and details for it but they don't have an actual model on display and they say they don't have stock yet.
I'll maybe keep looking to see if I can find one I can at least hold and touch.0 -
Try and get to an apple store to try one first! They tend to have some out that you can have a play with. I have had several ipods (nanos and classics etc) and have never had any battery or software issues but i know apple struggles with reliability problems!
I had a good look at the IPOD Touch the other day and IMO its a bit of a gimic! if its just for playing music id get an ipod classic (80gb or 160gb) for the same amount (or thereabouts) that you would pay for a 16gb touch!
each to their own, but just my thoughts on it!!!!0 -
I like the idea of it being able to connect to the net so I can use it when I'm out and about to get email or check out the latest headlines - I never was able to get that working on my phone
I'm not sure where the nearest Apple store to me is. Infact having just looked it up the only one in Scotland seems to be in Glasgow and I live approximately 149 miles away from there0 -

ipod classic has some firmware issues just now.seems random luck if it affects your ipod or not.
if you decide not to go touch i would just get an 'old' ipod video v5.5 80 gb0 -
Try an Apple reseller near you if the Apple Store is too far to travel. Places like Asda probably won't be too high up Apple's list. You could just order from the on-line Apple Store and wait a week or so for one to be delivered from China.
At the moment, iPod Touches seem as rare as hens' teeth.0 -
I was at the European launch and droooooled over the ipod touch. I'm going to visit an Apple Store to get the full briefing before deciding what to buy. It's really tempting the ipod touch because of the size of the screen.
I didn't realise they were rare, they're beautifulPrevious debt: £14K :embarasse Debt free: Sept '03MFW#42 Mortgage OP savings £4271.18/£12000 2019

John Lewis on-line has 'em in stock, in case anyone's interested. I just ordered a 16GB model (iPod #5), which will supposedly be delivered on Tuesday.0

I decided just to get an iPod Classic 80gb in the end. £161 express delivery from Amazon.
The Touch is nice but at £200 for just an 8gig model it's a bit pricey even with the nice wi-fi ability.0 -
