Ombudsman for gaming

Hi there,
I’m having a long standing complaint with EA sports about a locked account. Long story short my account has been hacked and I had all my digital content for Fifa stolen and traded to another account.
EA banned me for this and I have been fighting a losing battle ever since.

The latest email I had has threatened to permanently ban me for keep emailing them. I’m disgusted they won’t help me. So where do I go now for someone to look at this?

Thanks everyone

    There is no ombudsman.
EA is an American firm so maybe if you want to bring any action you need to do it via the US but you would need to do your own research as Im not 100% sure about it.

If you could find others with the same issue eg the fifa forums if they exist or the forums for 1 of the consoles then it might help.

How did they gain access ?
    A weak password ?
Did you click on a dodgy email link ?

EA are registered in the UK... https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/02057591

the ombudsman you'd want would be that deals with any consumer issues. - http://www.consumer-ombudsman.org/

EA aren't signed up to that "ombudsman", they can only help when the company is signed up to their service because there is no official ombudsman that deals with this. Its basically just one private company providing a service to other private companies. That is why they can only help if the company is signed up - because then they have agreed to abide by the ombudsmans decision.
If you submit a complaint about a company that doesn't participate in our scheme, unfortunately we will not be able to progress your complaint. You should contact the company to establish whether it participates in a different dispute resolution scheme.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

good point, to be honest I assumed that being a massive company they would be. In any case, there is of course the courts to deal with this

Be careful of going down the rabbit hole here.

Were you playing fifa and someone offered you several million coins in return for trading a rubbish card in Ultimate Team they will have evidence of this.

OP, might be easier just to give up with EA sports version of football altogether - I have, I'm off to PES when the new one comes out. They are a shambolic company in so many ways, from producing a number of very poor glitchy half completed products to having a very slow and inept customer services. Having played Fifa 17 and SW Battlefront over the last year, I'm not going to buy any more of their cr*p. The problem is that people keep buying the stuff and they keep raking in the money and do nothing to improve the product. Time to change that me thinks. You might just need to cut your losses.

This was unfortunately my first thought...

Your account almost certainly hasn't been hacked. If it had been hacked then this would have also happened to other accounts and EA would have helped you to gain access to your account and content again.

What has happened is that you have given out your password to someone (probably by someone phishing). You need to make sure you change all your passwords and use a different password for each account. You also need to be more vigilant online and learn to recognise attempts to steal your passwords.

Slightly off topic, but I had issues with EA many years ago myself, FIFA 14 I believe. I actually went down a Subject Access Request route under DPA 1998 for any information relating to decisions on my account. They failed to respond in the timeframe, and got slapped around a bit by the ICO. Eventually got all my account reinstated from it.
