Being cheap Vs Getting value for money

Just wondering on what is the difference, and how do you know when you are making a step from one into the other

I'd interpret "being cheap" as letting others pick up the tab for you - heading to the loo when you know it's your round having accepted drinks from others, that sort of thing. Value for money for me is using vouchers to get money off things (so for example a meal with friends in a well known Pizza place where you produce the voucher that gets everyone at the table 25% off their food) or shopping around a bit for bargains to get your grocery bill down.
