Pre-employment

Offer of employment has been made but now have a Health Questionnaire to fill in. There are many illnesses and often need to visit hospitals.

Can the potential employer withdraw the offer based on the Health Questionnaire?

Thanks

Basically yes. It gets a little more complicated if the illnesses amount to a disability (for employment law purposes).

If they get cold feet they may pull. Is the questionnaire in relation to reasonable adjustments?
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.

Let the employer decide whether to withdraw the offer, they may be lenient with regard your answers.

Of course they could - they're asking for a reason and it's not to make conversation.

According to the job advertisement, there was no conditional on pre-employment on health, so the job was offered.

Friend completed the health form, which was sent after the job offer. Now the company wants to send that form to occupational health for further report.

Is this normal or should the friend give up?

No, it's not normal, but it doesn't mean it's a no either.

I suggest the "friend"goes: they could still be offered the job, whereas if they pull out, they definitely won't be!

It depends on the job whether it's normal. In my job it is and in jobs I've had in the past it is. If she's able to do the job with any reasnable adjustments for disabilities, she has nothing to worry about.

At least they've sent it to occy health, instead of just saying no straight off, so I wouldn't write it off just yet.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

It could be normal, in my current role everyone who is recruited goes to occy health because you need to prove you've had a BCG and you need to get hep B jags or get blood checked to make sure your hep B is up to date.

I had to see an occy health doctor on the same day because I'd indicated on my form that I have ongoing health issues and needed adjustments and that was all sorted on the day via a quick chat. I got a copy of the letter that was going to recruitment services and that was it.
