Ok so I am usually the queen of the feeezer. Just about everything gets frozen.....left over tinned toms, cheeses, sandwiches the works but for some reason freezing bakery goods (I don't mean homemade cakes I mean things from the supermarket like croissants etc) has passed me by.
A few weeks ago I bought 16 croissants for 10p and decided to try freezing them. Obviously it worked just fine :rotfl: now I'm thinking more about the YS items available at the end of the night (I work in a SM).
Last night I bought a pack of reduced ring donuts. The sugary kind not glazed and I'm wondering the best way to freeze them? In a food bag? In foil? Also wondered if they go a bit soggy when defrosted?
Thanks in advance

Tbh I wouldn't bother
Doughnuts from the bakery of supermarkets are only nice on the day, a day later and to me, they are disgustingly dry
Still if you have only paid pennies for them, chuck them in in a bag and see how they come out. Perhaps a refresh in a hot oven will be needed0 -
I'd put them in a bag and then instead of defrosting in the fridge/on the surface, put them in the microwave. It may take some experimenting to see what power/how long, but this will steam them and help keep them moist. I can attest that a glazed donut in a 750W microwave for 20 seconds is lovely, but I haven't done it from frozen.0

I don't really eat them. Only DS and our SM only sells packs of them. Wondered if it might be worth buying periodically and freezing. I can and will eat them rather than throwing them out but freezing may be win/win
fairyprinsessk thanks - will give that a try. Didn't work with the croissants this morning (forgot to take them out the freezer) but that will be trial and error tooEmma

I'm pretty sure Krispy Kreme has freezing instructions on their website so try that!
However you do it, if they don't come out right, doughnuts make a delicious bread and butter pudding,
ETA: I can't find it on the UK website anymore but the Aussie one says:Can I freeze my Krispy Kreme doughnuts?
The brilliance of a Krispy Kreme doughnut is best when fresh. If however you choose to freeze the doughnuts for a later date, make sure you seal them in an airtight package to ensure the ageing process is halted while in the freezer.
What about reheating?
This is a dish which will have your guests drooling. If you can’t eat them fresh, take your frozen ones out of their airtight package in the freezer and pop them in the microwave for 8 seconds. It’s not exactly like having a hot one from a Krispy Kreme Factory Store, but some say it’s pretty close.0 -

croissants make a fab bread & butter pudding. They make it so light, it's a bit like a souffle.0
