Cleaning a carpet without carpet cleaner

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has good tips on cleaning a large rug, without having to borrow a machine.

It has old faint red wine stain on it, and while that cleaned up reasonably well I put it under the bed and got new darker one for the living room. Now I would like to re use it in different room (that is not used as much) but I would like to refresh it somewhat. The whole carpet.

And tips, tricks, good product to use? It's about 120x150 cm

Thank you!

Get a bottle of Stardrops , fill a bucket of warm water and put in a fifth of a bottle of Stardrops and mix it up so there is lots of froth and bubbles on top.

Get a stiff brush and dip it into the froth and brush it over the rug, work it well in and leave it to dry and then hoover off.

Washing up liquid. Add it to some warm water whisk to a froth and use the froth to clean the rug. Don't let the rug get wet just scrub in the froth then leave to dry and hoover it up.
If that doesn't get out a stain try adding bicarb of soda to the froth and cover the mark with that and leave it overnight and hoover in the morning.

1001 Carpet Cleaner as directed on container, scrub carpet gently as above, allow to dry, vacuum. It's a good few years ago now, but this worked wonders for a very old, horribly mucky carpet (think multiple takeaways eaten in the room, pervading aroma of MSG). Good luck.

    Thanks all, this is great!
Will try and report back when I manage to try it. Probably weekend!
