Hi we recently moved into a house and the current people left a bin with food in it, there was loads of maggots which were crawling out even with the lid closed, managed ti clean the bin out and used antiseptic disinfectant and have sprayed the ins with this but seem to still get flys is there something we can put in the bins to stop flys?

Yes.
Boiling water, or insect killer. Antiseptic will do nothing against either maggots or flies, you'll just have really clean maggots or flies...

I'd be asking the council for another bin (or buying one if wheelie bins aren't in use yet).
I used to be Starrystarrynight on MSE, before a log in technical glitch!0 -
we cleaned out and used Dettol spray now which has helped.0
