    Many thanks for the replies.
As I suspected there is no definitive answer to the best size of deposit and looks to be down to personal preference in the end.
The more I look at it the more I'm thinking cash could be king after all!

The best way to buy a new car is the cheapest and, as other have mentioned briefly, with PCP manufacturers often give extra incentives not available to cash buyers - free insurance, free servicing, extra deposit contribution etc. These are normally in addition to any normal discounts available. A few months ago Mercedes were giving an extra £6K PCP deposit contribution on an SLK! Anyone paying cash would have been mad

Another advantage of PCP is that the manufacturer takes the risk on depreciation and the bottom falling out the car market. You agree up from what you pay and if the car is worth less than the balloon payment at the end you can hand the car back. My neighbor bought a Range Rover Sport on PCP and it was worth £8K less than the balloon at the end so he just handed it back

Don't forget, you can PCP, get the benefits, then pay it off straight away ;)

Mazda have a zero% PCP deal on some of their models at present, iirc. Seems a no brainer (but only if you want a Mazda, obviously!)
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
