Whatever works best for you lucy. Conversely for me I find if I commit early in the day I'm more likely to keep to it. Its as if the decision is made I don't think about it after that or when (occasionally) I get cravings I feel a stronger sense of accountability. That's one of the good things about the thread though. we all throw in tips and ideas and can pick and choose what works for each of us.
My dance class starts up tonight after the summer break so no drinking for me. It's perfect distraction.
4 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
Declaring early for tonight on 2/10 please Shaggy0

I can't lecture anyone about cutting down or giving up Maman after my decade of drinking more than I should. Everyone was very forgiving of my excess over the years. I'm also acutely conscious that I'm one mistake away from going back to old behaviours and I'd hope that if I did, people would be tolerant.
And, being honest, let's not pretend that single cause fanatics that impose their wearing and wearying views on the unfortunate people around them actually make a difference to the way people think and behave! I can't stand being lectured, and while new information about breaking bad habits is always interesting and welcome, being told that what we're doing is harmful is actively unhelpful.
I know exactly what helped me give up smoking and booze, and it wasn't people telling me from their lofty sanctified heights that I was being foolish!
Anyone who realises they've got a bad habit, that it's up to them to get to grips with it and does something, anything at all about it, is a hero in my eyes. :A Posting on this thread counts as 'doing something about it.' It may be a small step, but every journey starts with just that one small step.I've never found a soft drink that I can say I really enjoy as much as an alcoholic drink.
Neither have I! But what I have found is a drink that I can drink for the whole evening without feeling as though I've overdosed on sugar and that has the slightly sour taste of satisfying booziness without the alcohol. It's not an improvement but it's a fair stand in.
What I've also found is that I can, hand on heart, say I enjoy more than an alcoholic drink is what my life has morphed into without it. That's been a revelation to me; I honestly couldn't work out in my drinking days how on earth I could celebrate birthdays, weddings and Christmas without fizz, and dinner, particularly pizza and pasta without wine. It still surprises me, believe it or not. I hope it always does because that's what keeps me on the straight and narrow as much as anything else.Morning :hello:
I've lost 2 pounds- only 24 more pounds to go
Shaggyx
