I am looking for a lettuce keeper with a spike ??

Hello chums I have had a round bowl that divided in the middle with a small spike in the middle for years I think I got it from bettaware. Well sad to say the spike has finally fallen apart and I am looking to see where I can buy a new lettuce keeper any ideas would be welcome as I think it was one of the best things ever for keeping lettuce fresh for ages.

Jackie I had one for years from Lakeland .I'm not sure if they still sell them . Either way I've noticed them in various supermarkets and other shops over the years much cheaper . Might be worth a google . Home and Bargains etc have good kitchen items .

Thanks pollyanna I will have a look next time I am at Bluewater Not many kitchenalia shops near to me really I looked on the sainsbobs site but couldn't see any.I will have to have a look at the Family bargains shop up on the business park in Gillingham next week They really are amazingly good at keeping lettuce fresh, a quick shufti online shows they sell them in the US but the postage is about £17 and the cost od a third of that for the gadget I may ask my eldest DD if she gets a chance to see if she can get one when she goes to New York in October to see my DGS on a visit

they do indeed but my spike has at last fallen apart and all I have is half a spike and the two round bowls basically I just need a new spike :) but I would be more than happy to buy a new one complete I just can't find anywhere that sells them apart from the U.S. Best kitchen gadget I have ever has I have never had to bin a lettuce ever and when you live alone a lettuce takes some eating even if you enjoy salads as I do.:)
  • Hi Jackie, Might be worth having a look at tupperwareman crisp it 2L not sure if this is the same thing or not, there is some spares on drop down menu, they also do a new tupperware lettuce /salad keeper of a different design HTH sorry cant post links

Quite intrigued because I didn't understand what you meant as never seen one before, I started googling and found this.

Don't know if this is any good. It's in U.S and wouldn't be worth paying postage to U.K but wondering if you could have it shipped to your Grandson's home and picked up by your daughter when she visits?
  • This has just reminded me I had a Tupperware salad crisper many years ago - I wonder what happened to it?! I must have a rummage in the land of forgotten stuff (ie under the stairs!) Mine didn't have a spike it sort of sat on a raised disc with holes in it. Casting my mind back I seem to remember it took up too much valuable space in the fridge and lettuce got relegated to the salad drawer.

Hi Jackie- have a look on Ebay and save it as a search. I had one like someone else that had a raised disc on its base.

Often worth looking at charity shops and I`ll message you if I find one.
