Unless you are absolutely certain that you'll find a new job easily I would stay put, so my job and focus on finding something else in the meantime. As someone before me already said, it's easier to find another job whilst in employment.
When I interviewed recently, there were a number of people who left their previous roles for various reasons and, several months on, were still looking. From an interviewers perspective, we initially had a couple of thoughts (rightly or wrongly) - was there more to them leaving than they admit and why haven't they found a job yet after x months? If they appeared really keen there was always the thought of "do they really want THIS job or are they getting desperate and would take anything and leave again soon after?" I should say that we were recruitimg for a role where there is high demand and low supply, i.e. really good candidates are off the market within a couple of weeks.
Hang in there and just keep looking and applying for jobs - trying to get out there should really help you focus on this and interviews. Also, try to do something else you enjoy, going for walks after work, painting, reading, music, whatever it may be to lift your mood.
I've been there a couple of times where I really just wanted to resign (for various reasons) and hated every day. And then there was always that day when a job ad came along which I loved the sound of, went for and got. So just remind yourself the day will come when you can go into work with your notice letter in your bag!0 -

This has been an issue for me. I took redundancy so I was financially stable for a little while, and did some traveling, but as soon as I was unemployed I went from getting interviews at huge international companies to struggling to find even retail work.
I tried to spin it for a while, but I never really got anywhere as after x amount of months some employers seem to start seeing no recent experience as pretty much identical to no experience at all. If you did decide to leave the job, you'd be subject to the prejudices of future employers. Are they difficult to work with? Did they throw a strop because they were asked to do a couple of things they didn't want to do? Do they have no work ethic? A lot of people in work seem to have no concept of how difficult it can be if you find yourself in an unemployment rut so if you do end up unemployed be aware of suspicion as to why you didn't just toddle out and pick a job off the job tree.
All in all I'd suggest finding a job while you're still working. Suck it up, take the money, but be actively trying to get out. Everyone wants to lower unemployment rates but no one wants to hire the unemployed.0 -

I would treat your current job as a means to an end until something more suitable comes along. You're not there to make friends and the environment you describe is fine, it's far better than the environments many have to work in.
Yeah, it is. The dole sanction thing for resigning is kind of against human rights.Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.0
