Are there ever any completely straightforward mortgage applications?

No harm in calling skipton to ask for a progress update, to reassure yourself?

Seeing as I'm getting out of office returns from the broker, I've just done that.

And... holy s#%t... they've only gone told me it's approved subject to valuation!

    I need a lie down.

Woohoo! So glad you called - what a good feeling eh?
I also called the estate agent to see when the valuation was booked for - hopefully yours will be quicker than mine, the 'expected' date on the tracker was yesterday but they aren't going out until the 7th. More waiting, but much less stressful waiting!
    Have a happy weekend :)

Yeah... I never thought I'd ever see this day, to be honest!

Our valuation's not until the 16th August unfortunately - I'm guessing people are busy and there's lots of annual leave going on.

But at this point, I don't really care when it happens - I'VE BEEN APPROVED*... wahey!

    *Subject to valuation.

Just wanted to end this thread by saying that we received our formal offer in the post today, after the valuation was carried out earlier in the week.

We've not yet had the homebuyer's report back but I'm not expecting that to flag up anything particularly nasty. All being well, I'll get the solicitor on the case on Monday and it should be pretty quick from here on in, given that we're currently renting and our vendor has already vacated their property - so no chain in either direction.

Ours was pretty far from being a straightforward application (at least I assume it was), but the story has ended well.
  • Good news ambc!! Congratulations! We are still in limbo - mortgage approved subject to valuation but vendor unsure that they can move after all! We are back in to Rightmove searching/house viewing mode whilst holding out a smidge of hope that they do actually want to move...

Oh man. That's a bummer. Especially after the stress of the mortgage application. But at least you have the mortgage approved, so that bit's out of the way, right? For me, that was the biggest hurdle, at least mentally.

    Hopefully you'll get sorted soon.
