Another Nigella question -sorry

I want to make 'Lunchbox treats' from Nigella Express. They are little balls made of chocolate, butter, cornflakes, rice krispies, sesame seeds, oats and rice malt syrup.
They aren't cooked -they're a bit like rice krispie cakes -melt choc, syrup and butter and mix in dry ingredients and leave to harden in the fridge.
Actually they remind me of an Annabel Karmel recipe I used to do with white choc, oats, ice krispies, dried apricots and gloden syrup. I stopped making that because I was eating most of it
My question is do you think I can substitute the rice malt syrup for golden syrup ? I use lots of golden syrup but I've never bought or seen rice malt syrup and don't want to buy something I only need for one recipe.
My feeling is golden syrup will be fine -just wondered what others thought ?

Absolutely fine.
This is another "Nigella-ism" where food is described as "healthy" simply because one ingredient has some marginal benefits (B vits, in the case of rice syrup) over another more readily available ingredient (e.g. golden syrup).
Bloomin woman! :rotfl:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Bloomin woman! :rotfl:mind you I call my flapjacks healthy because they have oats in -i try not to think about the butter and sugar....
I wondered if the rice syrup was runnier/thicker than golden.0 -

I'm learning about loads of new ingredients tonight  According to this site and others, rice syrup is a good substitute for honey, and has a similar consistency. Find this a bit strange, though, as honey can be anything from really runny to completely solid

I realise that this thread is oooooollllllddddd.. but, I got here through google as I was searching for rice malt syrup for Nigellas lunchbox treats so maybe someone else will end up here someday too...
Anyway today, after a good two weeks of searching, I found the elusive rice malt syrup!
I found it in a fancy health food store in cheshunt and it was £3.49... reduced to half price
I haven't yet made my lunchbox treats (just realised I don't have chocolate or cornflakes ) BUT I did open the jar and have a little taste... it's awful!
Taste sort of like licorice mixed with honey.. hopefully the chocolate will drown that out a bit...
It's about the same texture as molasses, very very thick and sticky0
