I have a similar problem with R80's. Fittings mean they must be same size as conventional. Megaman do something but the price!!!! I need ten in all.0

Depends on what you call cheap. They are around £10 for Megaman in the net I got mine for £8 something for a electrical retailor

I also have the gu10's (4) in my daughters room and the candle bulbs in living room (5 in all)0 -
The long life spotlight bulbs I found were all considerably larger than their 'normal' equivalents. So not so good if on display!Signature removed for peace of mind0

The megmans r63 are not much larger that's one of the reasons I buy them. The GU10's were slightly larger but not by much. The candles are about the same height but slightly fatter much smaller than some of the £3-£4 candles bulbs I seen locally0

I know this is an old thread but still relevant I guess.
Can anybody tell me if their bulbs are still going strong. I need to buy some R63s but the low energy ones are a lot more expensive and I'm wondering if it really is a money saving option or not.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
I dont know what r60's or r63's are
but at B&Q the other day they had MULTI 48 LEDS direct replacements for halogen ..MR16 12 volt ones and GU10'S 220 volt at about £6.99 each
All the best.markj0 -
Savings depend how much you use your bulbs, but don't be put off by the prices before doing the maths. I replaced the three 60 watt R63 bulbs in the kitchen with megaman 11 watt bulbs (which I would recommend). I'd say these bulbs are used on average four hours a day, so the energy savings are good and worth paying £10 a bulb for.
Each hour used we save (60x3)-(11x3) = 147 watt, which adds up to 588 watt a day, 4.1 kWh a week, or 214 kWh a year. At 15p a kWh that's about £30 a year saved, while the bulbs are expected to last about 15,000 hours, which is about ten years if used for four hours a day.
It should be mentioned however that many people get a discount from their electric company when they consume a lot of electric, so your average kWh price could be lower than ours. We use quite little electric (we have natural gas for heating, cooking and water) so pay nearly the full 15p for every kWh.0 -
Thanks for that Ben - do they work ok on dimmers - all of ours are on dimmers. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Try also https://www.lamps2udirect.com They have a wide range and stock Megaman, special offers sometimes too. You could also try Ikea if there is a store near to you. Hope this helps!0
