Both heart-warming and heart-wrenching, Lion, a front-runner in this year’s awards race with four Golden Globe nominations including Best Motion Picture, is the unforgettable true story of one man's search for home.

Starring Dev Patel, Rooney Mara and Nicole Kidman alongside newcomer Sunny Pawar. The film is adapted from Saroo Brierly’s own account of a life lost and found.

In Lion, five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train travelling away from his home and family. Frightened and bewildered, he ends up thousands of miles away, in chaotic Kolkata. Somehow he survives living on the streets, escaping all sorts of terrors and close calls in the process, before ending up in an orphanage that is itself not exactly a safe haven. Eventually Saroo is adopted by an Australian couple, and finds love and security as he grows up in Hobart. Not wanting to hurt his adoptive parents’ feelings, he suppresses his past, his emotional need for reunification, and his hope of ever finding his lost mother and brother. But a chance meeting with some fellow Indians reawakens his buried yearning. With just a small store of memories and an unwavering determination, Saroo embarks on one of the greatest needle-in-a-haystack quests of modern times.

Hacksaw Ridge - nominated for three Golden Globes including Best Motion Picture Drama, Best Director and Best Actor Drama - is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun.

He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honour.
