Walt Disney Pictures is proud to announce the UK release date of SAVING MR BANKS, the extraordinary untold story of how one of the most beloved tales of all time, Mary Poppins, was bought to the big screen. The film will be released nationwide on November 29th, 2013.
Two-time Academy Award®-winner Emma Thompson and fellow double Oscar®-winner Tom Hanks star in the film which will be closing the 2013 London Film Festival with its World premiere on October 20th, 2013.
When Walt Disney's daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers' Mary Poppins, he made them a promise - one that he didn't realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney's plans for the adaptation. There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

Ballet superstar Carlos Acosta makes his feature film debut in a sparkling culture clash comedy. Snatching her late father's ashes, earnest Scottish left-wing activist Rosa (Eva Birthistle) hatches a plan to scatter them in Cuba. That's where her socialist parents spent much of their time back in the seventies. Rosa's equally strong-willed yet materialistic and fashion obsessed sister Ailie (Charity Wakefield) tags along, mainly because she fancies a holiday in the sun. It proves to be an eventful experience for these chalk and cheese siblings, who promptly lose the ashes in Havana! As their crazy adventure continues, Rosa is romanced by hunky dance teacher Tomas (Carlos Acosta). Along the way, the sisters also make some surprising discoveries about their family history. This breezy fish out of water comedy offers charismatic Cuban ballet star Carlos Acosta his first feature-length acting role. He's cast opposite Eva Birthistle, BAFTA-nominated star of Ken Loach's 'Ae Fond Kiss'.
