The 56th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express® will open on Wednesday 10th October with the European Premiere of Disney's Frankenweenie.
In partnership with American Express® and Disney, Frankenweenie will premiere around the country, as the Opening Night red carpet and screening will be beamed live from London's Odeon Leicester Square to 30 cinemas across the UK, allowing audiences to enjoy this exclusive festival event.
From creative genius Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland", "A Nightmare Before Christmas"), Frankenweenie is a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life - with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.
A visually-stunning black and white stop-motion animated film in electrifying 3D, Frankenweenie's voice cast includes Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Cochata Ferrell and Winona Ryder.
The regional premiere screenings of Disney's Frankenweenie will take place on the evening of Wednesday 10th October at the following 30 Cineworld cinemas:
Ashford ● Ashton Under Lyne ● Birmingham Broad Street ● Boldon Tyne & Wear ● Bolton ● Brighton ● Burton on Trent ● Cambridge ● Cardiff ● Castleford ● Cheltenham ● Chichester ● Crawley ● Didsbury ● Edinburgh ● Enfield ● Glasgow Renfrew Street ● High Wycombe ● Ipswich ● Middlesborough ● Milton Keynes ● Northampton ● Nottingham ● Rochester ● Sheffield ● Shrewsbury ● St Helens ● Stevenage ● Swindon ● Yeovil
Full details including screening times and how to apply for tickets will be made available through American Express from Monday 24th September and via Cineworld Cinemas and the BFI London Film Festival from Thursday 27th September. Based on true events, Argo tells the story of the top-secret CIA operation to rescue six Americans which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis, and is adapted from a Wired magazine article.
Following Gone Baby Gone and The Town, Ben Affleck makes it a directorial hat trick with Argo. It’s a slick, sleek cocktail of period piece, suspense thriller, comedy and Hollywood-on-Hollywood insider insight.
