'Sin Nombre'



Touted as this year's 'City of God', 'Sin Nombre' is social realism disguised as a breathlessly paced chase movie. The film follows two characters: tough, conscience-stricken Mexico City gangbanger El Casper, who secretly dreams of escaping from the brutality of his urban existence, and Honduran teenager Sayra, hopping trains with her family on a headlong flight to the safety of US soil. When their paths cross bloodshed isn’t far behind, as the pair are pursued north by Federales, border patrol officers and Casper’s former gangland compadres.

Stunningly directed by first-timer Cary Joji Fukunaga, ‘Sin Nombre’ infuses its gritty Central American landscapes with both menace and stark beauty, making this much more than just another teens-on-the-run thriller. Tales of illegal immigration into the US have become commonplace in recent years, but ‘Sin Nombre’ succeeds by fusing social conscience and attention-grabbing action, thrusting the viewer into the dark heart of the human diaspora.

The London Folies is 21st century variety and burlesque, featuring fabulous new songs, gorgeous girls in exotic costumes, hilarious comedy and sheer spectacle. It's a spectacular summer variety show and a celebration of London's melting pot of culture and diversity.
Miss Polly Rae - "the Queen of Leicester Square" - is the UK's rising star of burlesque ("Best Troupe" Ministry of Burlesque Awards); she smoulders in a delicious blend of cabaret, variety and traditional and 'neo' burlesque.


Ivy Paige - "the Scarlet Temptress" - is one of the most sought-after cabaret artists in the UK. She has a unique voice fused with bawdy burlesque and stand-up comedy.


Irish hoofer James Devine clocks in at an astounding 38 taps per second. Now after sold out, record-breaking seasons on Broadway and at the Edinburgh Festival, this is his first performance in London. Possessing a fast and vigorous percussive dance style, his signature tap has been likened to "manic typewriters," "talking drums" and a "tap tornado".
