Getting a mortgage with a default

Applied for a mortgage unaware Talk Talk defaulted on me last year when I moved out my flat. Settled it in a hope I would get a mortgage but struggling. Have been turned down by my own bank RBS due to this for 90000. Went to Natwest but they only offered 70000.

Any advice would be great thanks.

For starters RBS owns Natwest so they may not be the best choice.

You need a specialist adverse credit broker. The fact that the default is recent is going to count against you.

How can you get £90k with Natwest but £70k with RBS? They are the same bank.

If you have been declined twice, I think it is a good idea to use a broker. 2 credit checks isnt great, 3 is going to start to hurt so its important to get it right next time.

Obtain all three versions of your credit file (no, they aren't always the same) and put them in front of an independent broker.
