I've spent the last 2 hours trying to book return tickets to London Stratford on 3 consecutive days for the World Athletics Championships. I can select the journeys OK but it won't let me proceed to any sort of payment.
I have an account with them and have not had problems before. (But only used infrequently). My wife has just tried to open a new customer account but the site won't let her.
Does anyone know if there's a problem with the site?
And what's my alternative? Buy tickets from my home station? (Apparently GA only sell over the 'phone via the Trainline). I'm assuming I get a better deal through GAs website rather than at the station?

Another option would be to buy your tickets from another train operating company.
I tend to use Virgin Trains East Coast, simply because I like the layout.
All train operating companies sell each other's tickets, and you can collect them at any machine that's capable.0 -
Well, I got it sorted after about eight attempts. (Was it me or the website?!)
After selecting the journeys you want, there are two further steps before payment - choosing your seats and then choosing method of ticket collection.
After choosing my seat I was asked to login to my account, which I did. This directed me to a "Update your account details" page, but I didn't want to update anything, just pay for the tickets. This is where it went wrong. I tried to continue from this page but got caught in an endless loop.
I eventually realised that despite entering my password when logging into my account, I still had to enter my password twice on the update page! (Remember I wasn't intending updating anything, just paying!)
Once I twigged this, I was able to continue. (My wife tried a couple of times too and she didn't notice the password requirement on the update page either).
Surely it's a bit daft to direct you to an "update my details" page after logging in and selecting your journeys and seats when all you want to do is choose how to get the tickets and pay for them?0 -

I think this happens (being redirected to the 'update your details' screen) when you login using an old account you haven't used for a while - they want to confirm your details are still correct... I'm pretty sure I remember having the same problem re getting nowhere until I realised i needed to enter the password again, it wasn't at all obvious.0
