Quick question or two please. My daughter has been offered a new job. She is trying to work out her holiday allowance and believes that she has accrued ten days, of which she has used four. She would like to know if this is correct.
She works compressed hours over three days a week, and is paid for thirty three hours per week. Holiday year is from April to March.
If she decides to take the new job, it is unlikely that she could take six days holiday (the equivilent of two weeks as she works three days a week - all days are the same length) as part of her notice, as this would cause major problems for her employer. There are already people off, and due to be off, due to holidays. I think that she will be paid for the six days holiday that is owed, but want to confirm that this is the case (assuming she cannot take them as a holiday during her notice period). However, her employer seems to have little understanding of employment law. My daughter has seen several examples of her employer showing little or no knowledge of employee rights and indeed employer rights. The notice required is four weeks. My daughter is concerned that she may not receive the correct pay, but I am sure that she can persue this if she is not allowed to either take the holidays or be paid for them.
So:
1. six days holiday due?
2. payment for the six days if unable to take them as holidays during the notice period?
3. persuement of wages if not taken as holiday or paid in lieu?
Thank you for any advice.

They would have to pay her for the un-taken earn't holiday.0

We can't work out what she is due because you haven't told us what her annual allowance is (or her expected leaving date).0

10 days accrued between April and July (4 months) when only working 3 days per week does seem very high. Statutory allowance for the same period would only be 5.6 days.
So what is her allowance?Mortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190 -
statutory is 5.6weeks or 28 days
working 3/5 is 16.8days
4 weeks notice say from the end of this week.
21 weeks worked would be 6.78 days.
less any days taken paid holiday(don't forget BH).
find out how she got to 10days first as that looks a tad high0 -
Thank you for the replies.
She used the government website calculator to work out the amount of days holiday. Now that it has been pointed out, it does seem high at ten days, so I wonder if she's made an error (likely from the sound of it) when she has input information. Maybe she would be better doing a calculation of hours.
She has statuatory allowance only (so 5.6 weeks) and hasn't given in her notice yet, but plans to do that this week (Thursday). Generally she doesn't work Bank Holidays as they don't usually fall on a day that she is in, but she did work Easter Sunday. So using the calculation by Getmore4less, she would have 2.78 days to take? Each day is 12 hours and fifteen minutes, of which she is paid eleven hours, £1 above minimum wage.0
