Hi all
Don't normally post on forums and don't even know if I'm in the right section but asking for help as I'm pulling my hair out here...
Just got off the phone with 247moneybox after having paid off a payment plan - earlier than planned as I did 2 jobs for a month and had the money to pay the last few £50 payments at once. Logged on, Did that and paid the balance of £190.04. It came up your loan has been repaid etc so happy days. A few days went by and i found it odd that I had not received email confirmation, went to log on to my account to see if it had a history I could forward to the CRAs if needed if the debt didn't clear from my report. Log in - outstanding balance of £279!
Having just waited half an hour to get through to someone on my lunch break (id like to add that as soon as he took my details he confirmed that my loan had been repaid and i didn't have an outstanding balance) after putting me on hold he then came back and said I had a balance outstanding of £279.00 from a loan I had in December 2015.
I immediately began firing questions.. How could I possibly have had more than one loan? Why had there been no contact for 18 months? Why was it only showing on my account now that I had paid off a loan? He advised me that if I went through my emails I would see communication that the loan had not been repaid. So off i went searching back to that time and indeed found an (unread oops) email saying that the repayment had failed. However, next email up was one confirming my loan request of £400 on the very same day! I'll be honest my memory for 18 months ago isn't great but I find it so implausible that i would have been granted a second loan on top of one I didn't twig hadn't been repaid or how it was even allowed to happen. And to have no chasing of the balance at all. I don't intend to pay the money as I don't see how i managed to rack up 2 loans at once and have a higher allowed balance on the second one with no repayment of the first?
I was so relieved at finally having finally paid them off and now they want more money

Do you agree you owe the money?
If so, I would look to agree a repayment plan with them.
Whether you feel you should have been granted the second loan is neither here nor there. The fact you had both emails on the same day means there was an overlap and they wouldn't have been working off real time data.
If you don't believe you owe it, dispute it with them. But don't sit back hoping it'll go away.0 -
Straight questions:
Did you take out the loan in 2015?
Did the final payment to clear the loan in 2015 go through your bank?
Check your bank statements to see about the payment. If you can see it as cleared funds leaving your account you have proof that you paid it for the payday loan company.
As for "how could you possibly have had more than one loan" there's nothing to stop a lender giving two loans simultaneously to a borrower who has applied for them, as far as I can think.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

you could look at the unaffordability route if you think there is a legitimate case there (its a sticky thread on this board)0

I just don't understand why there's been next to no contact about it at all considering they wrote to me about the recently paid off one. Been forking out £50 a month to get that paid off i can't afford to start paying that much out extra a month again

Most of these outfits dont have the time or resources to chase up bad debt, sometimes accounts get sidelined, other times they are sold on to debt collectors/purchasers, if your not currently been chased for it, leave it alone.
If they can ever be bothered to write to you asking for payment, then deal with it.
In the meantime, it sounds to me like you are struggling with these debts, there is a big campaign ongoing now to reclaim interest and charges from unaffordable payday loans.

Make sure that they put in writing to you that this has been done and that no further action will be taken against you in relation to it. Glad to hear you got it sorted anyway!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
