Laptop browser pages 'not responding'

Options
Had an issues with partners laptop a couple of months ago it turned out to be the new router we fitted at home, and password related, now I have a problem with my laptop. If i have anything more than a single web page open, it times out/not responding and I have to either 'refresh' it several times, or press the blue 'reload page' button, its takes forever to do anything, and 9 times out of 10 you fill in an online form, and it doesnt process it!:mad::mad:

We use our phones and iPads no issues whatsoever indoors, fast loading etc and multiple pages/apps at the same time, but my laptop cant seem to handle anything more than 1 web page at a time... even then its a struggle

Its a HP 250 G4 Intel Core i5-5200U, not a wonder machine I know, but I'm not asking that much of it surely?? :(

Is this a browser related issue ? Have you tried a different browser ?
Have you reset IE (If thats what you're using)

My first thought in these situations is : Malware ..

So run malwarebytes from here : https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou/

And then ADW cleaner to tidy up : https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Andy, Ive run both on my laptop and PC (malwarebytes found 2 things to quarantine) but still problems with web pages. Ive put Mozilla Firefoxon both and trying that out, and both, so far at least, seem trouble free. So, could the problem be with Google Chrome?

Sorry for my possibly stupid question, Im bordering useless on anything compter related

If both Chrome and Firefox are now working properly, it was possibly the malware causing the problem.

I don't know if it helps, but I've used SpywareBlaster for years. It blacklists malicious sites in Firefox, Chrome and IE, reducing the chances of picking up malware. Maybe worth a look:

Thanks everyone, had no idea Chrome was so problematic/hated

One question though, now in Firefox, on Ebay, whenever I click 'ask seller a question' it always hangs up, every single time, but never on anything else?

It says 'Problem loading page - The connection has timed out' every single time?? Any ideas?

It isn't. Plenty of people like it. I find it works well with bloated media-rich sites. But I don't really like the UI, and I prefer Firefox with the huge number of add-ons available.

You could try deleting your browser cache to see if that helps. Open Firefox, hit CTRL+SHIFT+DEL, choose "Everything" from the top menu, and make sure that the ONLY box ticked is "Cache" (unless you want to delete the other stuff). Then close and reopen the browser.

If that doesn't help, it might be a problem with your profile. Close Firefox (if it's open), then go to the search box in the Start Menu and type firefox -p and hit enter. The Firefox Profile Manager will open, and you can create a new profile to see if the problem still occurs.

Do you have any add-ons installed? They can sometimes be buggy and cause problems. To find out which ones might be to blame, you could try installing the add-ons you use in your new profile, one by one, and checking if the problem occurs again.
