"aliased"? whats that then?
'Aliasing' is a form of digital noise and is an inherent part of D to A conversion. In the days of analogue media it was called 'harmonic distortion'.
On early CD players the filters used to remove it were so abrupt that they badly affected the higher audible frequencies, often to the point where the sound was fatiguing and 'brittle'. Most modern designs use oversampling or 'one bit' DACs which shift the 'alias' harmonics further up the frequency range, so a much gentler filter can be used to remove them.
The same effect is also seen in cheaper LCD panels, resulting in visible artifacts and poor colour fidelity. There's no doubt LCD tellies have come a very long way in a relatively short time, and the increased resolution of HD has made them even better, but CRT is still an excellent technolgy for displaying moving images, especially in terms of response time and contrast ratio.
