Who else isn't incentivised by work/money

If the OP has been working for a few years, and it sounds as though they have, then they are not spending your money, they are spending what they have contributed, unlike single mothers who have never had a job in their lives, or ne'er do wells who deal drugs and steal for a living.
However, the OP has to understand, that going from having a job and earning £30K a year, no matter how boring that job may be, is better than being unemployed, I know that because I was unemployed for two years, and it was the worst time of my life.
The OP sounds as if they need to get a hobby, go out and meet people, and most importantly get a good life/work balance.
No they are not. Taxes are not a savings scheme. And benefits are not the pay out for having worked. And all benefits, including state pension, are paid for at the time by people in work. It isn't a case of work ten years have ten off! If toy are claiming benefits now, then the current workers are paying for them. I have no problem doing that for people without another choice. But the OP doesn't need to claim benefits, so there is no reason for them to do so. They work, or they live off their own savings, or they starve. But giving up working simply because toy don't fancy working and don't care about money is not an option unless you intend to not claim benefits. That is not what benefits are for.0 -

Yes sounds great. I'm well over 30, so I'm definitely due time off at the taxpayers expense of which I've most definitely been one. Really anyone over 30 should call it a day and go on bennies..... Of course those taxes at 30 don't add up to a whole lot. If he's been earning under approx 30k, then he's a nett contributor......all those pesky things like hospitals, police, government have to be paid for out of his taxes.
I've enjoyed most of my working life, getting a bit fed up now at 53, which is more to do with increased regulation and the admin that goes with it. But because I worked hard and generally didn't go wild with money, I could have retired at 52. Retirement is on my mind, but it'll be linked with a less strenuous mini career.
Work is about not only finding something you enjoy, but it's about the contribution you make to society, the society that you owe as much as it owes you.0 -
There's nothing to stop you from living as though you have no money if you think it would make you happier.
Stop using all your consumer products if you have them, put yourself on a budget of £73 per week, and start living the dream!

Money doesn't buy happiness, but it's bl00dy difficult to be happy without it.
Can I ask, OP - did you enjoy your job and the income it gave you in the past? Not finding enjoyment in things that you used to enjoy is a sure sign of depression, and to be honest I feel from your post that you might well be depressed. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
