Electric shaver VS razor?

ok right now im using a razor, its the Gillete fusion, its good , but everytime after i shave, some big red pimples appear on my face, and some like small cuts and stuff, i KNOW how to shave lol,. i was wondering if a Philips electric shave would be better? and it doesnt shave as close as Razor right? which 1 do u think is better? cause my friend said if i shave with an electric shaver, then id have red pimples on my face, but i think its the other way, wut do u think? any suggestions? thanks

They are both equal for shaving, its why i swapped to using DE blades and a merkur as much closer shave.

This wont help you though unless you know how to control the pressure on the blade.

If you have whiskers you need a razor.

If you have "Bum Fluff" you can get away with an electric razor.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Some people are better at using one than the other.

If my husband tried razor blades, he'd probably cut his throat, but I remember a cousin, who had always had a wet shave, borrowing an electric shaver and ending up with lots of cuts and abrasions on his neck.

I use a Merkur too. Feather blades I find to be the best.

I prefer to use an electric shaver. Although they, too, require a skill in use and some shave better than others.

Currently using the same brand as my long-departed Dad used to use.. Philishave... This rechargeable Aquatouch one can be used 'wet' as well. I never, though, go for a 'top range'/priced version.

    BUT each to their own.

If I wet shave I get very bad flare ups. I switched to the Philips oneblade. I cannot recommend it enough. It gets as close as close can be.

There are reasons why you get bumps- a few could be that the blades you use are not sharp enough or are not flat/straight enough. Make sure you're using decent blades each time (be aware that fakes are sold in higher numbers than most are aware. Look for reputable stores more than trying to work out if the pack you have is fake or not).

Also check you are looking after the skin following a shave. It could be you are not able to wash away a build up of skin cells and this can then create blocked pores and so ingrowing hairs. Once you have an ingrowing hair it's not so easy just to exfoliate once to get rid of them (you'd need to exfoliate regularly and then stick to making sure you use a cleanser which is going to be able to get rid of all build up, twice a day).

If you wanted to try an electric razor go for it, but you wont get as clean a shave and the blades will go blunt just like on a normal razor- then you'd need to pay out more to replace them or the entire shaver. It is great for being easy to just grab and go, but the corners you cut will show and you will have that 11 o'clock shadow every morning. As long as you are OK with that and the prickly feeling on your skin, you're good to go.

I've been trying a lot of wet razors over the past few of years but have ended up back with electric. I'll keep a couple of my 20-odd DE razors (a Merkur slant and a vintage Gillette fat-handle Tech) and ebay the rest. Basically I've never got a good shave on my chin or neck due to moles, and hate the feeling of skinning or nicking myself.

However I have no such problems with electric shavers and can shave around the corners of my mouth, neck, chin without any irritation or nicks. Since my last Phillips shavers needed new heads which, once again, proved financially unjustifiable, I recently bought a Remington rotary head mains-only shaver for £20 from Argos and have to say it is at least as good a shave as the Phillips. Not as well-made perhaps, but very light which is good for travelling. I never used my previous rechargeables in cordless mode and have no wish to use an electric shaver 'wet' so the minimalist Remington fits the bill.

I'll keep wet shaving for my cheeks and neck every once in a while. The various Russian-made blades, and Indian Gillette Nacet blades work well for me.
