Sorry you've been ill. I have too - although it wasn't covid for me either (or DD).
Great result on the bay for the chair!
Food sounds lovely as always. You've got me into William Morris too... I'm considering lining a vintage bureau with it... I'm talking JL tissue or wrapping paper... that's more my budget LOLAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sorry to hear you've both been unwell but as you say, CV19 is something we need to live with now (although fingers crossed that isn't what you've had!). Increasing costs
Thank you guys for your well wishes. My energy is returning and I had great plans for today but then I noticed the washing machine was leaking 😲 Mr F had a look at it and thought it was a failed joint on the water pipe. Under normal circumstances he would have been able to fix it but, in his current condition, I didn't want him to have to tackle it. So I called the plumber. They weren't able to come until after 4.00 pm so, rather than turn off the water to the whole house, I've been running backwards and forwards putting down kitchen roll to contain the leak (fortunately it was only a small one). The plumbers have now been and it wasn't a failed joint in the pipe after all but a failed washer in the connector pipe 🙄 Something we could have easily fixed ourselves if either or us had been on the ball enough today. So, the costs of our weekend away continue to increase. At least the damage is minimal. An adjacent cupboard has soaked up quite a lot of water so we'll have to see how that dries out.
I've achieved nothing other than putting my finger in the dyke though 😆 Fortunately we had salmon and soup left over from yesterday as it would have been difficult cooking with appliances strewn around the kitchen (we had to move them out to get to the problem).
Although, now I think of it, some things have been accomplished - a secret santa gift arranged, a 60th birthday present organised, the bank accounts reconciled, a prescription requested and some parcels opened and the contents sorted away.
Tomorrow is another day and it won't hurt us to have an extra easy day while we're recovering. I do hope no more nasty surprises are in store for us though. I think we've had enough for November 😆
Hope all is well with you guys.

Getting there
I've had a much more productive day today thank goodness. My most pressing job was painting the log slice for the WI Federation Christmas tree as the deadline is tomorow 😲 I gave them a call and they can give me a few days leeway. It's finished now and just needs Mr F to drill a hole through for a hanging loop and then I can post it off.
I got two washes done in the fixed washing machine (that error is costing us £72 😲) and vacuumed downstairs. Also made a Swiss Chard, Bacon & Gruyere Tart for one of our Twixmas lunches. That will go in the freezer later. I need to make a second gluten free one as one of my Christmas guests doesn't do gluten. I usually make my own pastry but I'm not going to mess around with GF so will buy it ready made.
Lunch was the last of the marrow soup. We had a cheese toastie with it this time to try and make it seem a little different to the last two days 😆 Supper was Cheesy Leek & Spinach Pasta. I'm trying to use up the chard and spinach in the veg patch as we're due snow on Friday ⛄
Mr F is still under the weather. He got the bug about four days after me so I doubt he'll be well before the weekend. At least he's got no travel this week so can rest if he needs to. He fell asleep in his new office chair earlier - shows how much more comfortable it is compared to the old one 😆
I'm feeling much better but quite tired after a relatively normal day so it's an early night for me tonight.
Sleep well

Glad you're beginning to recover. Not great that Mr F is still feeling so unwell.
Good that you got an extension on the WI log. Hope it exceeds expectations...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Wait a minute Mr Postman
I got some overdue chores done today - 3 parcels posted: 1 Bay item (6 days overdue), 1 birthday present (belated) and 1 log slice off to grace the Federation WI Christmas Tree 😁 I am pleased with the way the log slice turned out and I've had some good feedback from the other WI members. Also picked up two prescriptions.
We had the rest of the leek and spinach pasta for lunch today and tuna melt baguettes for supper. I had pastry leftover from the tart I baked yesterday and an earlier bake so I mixed those up to make some Oaty Biscuits. This is one of my favourite recipes for using up leftover pastry.
Managed to cram in another wash and some ironing before the shopping arrived (a little under budget this week).
That doesn't look much written down but I'm exhausted now. I think I'm still a little under par. Glad to have some pressing tasks completed though.
Mr F seems to be on the up now. Still unwell but a little less so than yesterday.
Fingers crossed for the weekend.
