My old Vaio has died on me
Although I may get it going again, time has come to get a replacement.
I've been looking around and I am totally confused with so many different models/specs?! Can anyone give me any suggestions or recommendations for a new Vaio? Looking to get the best I can up to around £1,000.
I'l keep looking, but any pointers would be much appreciated!
Thanks

what ever you do dont go for the new 14" screen vaio's there poor to say the least on screen quality when viewing internet pages. you have to scroll accross as well as down as well as up to view pages.
are you buying direct from sony or electrical retailers...?need to have a lightbulb moment0 -

Just looking at screen spec, not sure whether this is Diamond X LCD or not.
My Vaio has this type of screen and it's great, very clear. Seems a very good spec but moneysavers more expert than I will advise better.
Would just advise going through Quidco at http://www.quidco.com/ For Lasky's purchases they are offering 2.5% cashback. On that sum of money you would gain a considerable saving.
Good luck0 -
The good 17 inch screens run at 1920 x 1200. Buy one and you won’t be disappointed0

that model was on sale in pcworld approx 2 week ago i know because i was going to buy one but there was one issue taht the mouse left/right buttons are on the edge of the laptop not on the bit where you put your palms if you know what i meanneed to have a lightbulb moment0 -
another pointer have a look at pc world business online as they have a massive spec of vaios that they dont sell in store
you have to set up a business account to buy from them but if you get a starter of there site for what yoou are looking(prices are reasonable aswell) you can do a specific vaio modle search on www.kelkoo.com to see if you can find the same modelneed to have a lightbulb moment0 -
God, I 've still not got that laptop! Had my old one working again, so put off getting a new one.. and it's died again.
I must have known something was going to happen as I've been looking around over the last week or so. But all my notes and on the dead laptop!
Still looking at Vaio's but want one with a TV tuner. Looking to pay around £1000 but would stretch it a bit... another couple of hundred if it made it worth while with specs.
I'm confused, I've looked at so many and now can't check my notes. Can anyone recommend a model? And does anyone know what's the difference with the letter at the end of the model no.? eg. E, M, S?
Looks like it'll have to be vista now too, would have preferred XP. Can anyone advise which Vista it better and I should be looking for on the laptop?
Thanks

alba37, how long did you have your old Vaio for? Am thinking of getting one and wondering how long they actually live for... want it to be a good few years as I'll be spending over £1k!0

If you don't know which one you want, why do you want one?
I'd reccomend steering clear of the sony ones and have a look at asus who make sonys laptops for them - if anything the build quality is far better.0 -
I had my old Vaio for 3 years when I replaced it with a new Vaio. The old one survived being dropped on a marble hearth, the only damage was to the hinge of the lid. It still worked really well though!
This Vaio is now just over three years old. It has a 17" LCD screen and is going really well. As it is used quite a lot I was considering buying another, but will leave for a while.
Good luck0
