Expensive shower gel

I've never bothered much with body lotion, it feels funny to coat yourself in stuff after cleaning yourself - I do use it now & again, rarely.
Anyway I've developed an expensive toiletry habit in the last few years & the cheapest I use (my daily essential one) is Australian bodycare tree tea skinwash. My luxury ones are Elemis & L'occtaine.
I noticed tonight my elbows are soft & smooth. All my like like most people I've had slightly rough elbows, not awful just a little.
Now as I get even older, my skin is obviously in better nick.
So maybe there is something on using expensive toiletries.

There could be but also a good one does not have to be expensive I suppose. If you can afford it and enjoy using them, that's what is importantally.0

If you enjoy it and use it ..... it is good value for you.
I appreciate good shower gels as some are very harsh, finding what you enjoy and works for you is really important. Splurge where you know you will enjoy and use it up0 -
Despite however tight the money has been I have never scrimped on facial products. The reason being my self esteem is very low if my skin is terrible and therefore the mental cost is outweighed by the monetary!0

Totally agree with you as I would be the same. With regards to shower gels, cheap products destroy your skin, totally dries out skin, full of perfume and are no benefit whatsoever. Having used more expensive body products, the difference is unbelievable and no comparison. It sometimes falls on the saying, 'You pay for what you get'.0 -
If it works for your skin, it's more than worth it, IMO. I have awful eczema on my hands and feet. If I could find a product which helped, I'd pay up!
I used to be Starrystarrynight on MSE, before a log in technical glitch!0 -
I like Palmolive's Body Butter shower gel. Especially the chocolate one.
And Imperial Leather's Marshmallow and Battenburg ones...
With my Lush Rose Jam bubble bath, I smell like a dessert hahah!
And they're all SUPER affordable!

I've started using the Faith In Nature shower gels, available from Holland and Barrett or can be found in TK Maxx/Home Sense cheaper.
They're really nice, and one bottle lasts me quite a while as you only need a drop at a time.0 -

The primary ingredient in your luxury products is soap, so in that respect they're no different to far cheaper products. Australian Bodycare is slightly better, it's primary ingredient is water followed by soap. The oils etc are that they emphasise in the marketing are in far smaller quantities.
That's all these luxury products are, good marketing.
There's nothing wrong with buying expensive toiletries if you enjoy them. If you want something that is better for your skin look for one that is SLS free, Weleda and Faith in Nature for example.0 -
OH and I use the Jason shower gels - OH was having some skin issues a while back and I switched to these as they're a bit more 'natural', and his skin is fine now. I usually buy them online from Big Green Smile and wait until they're either reduced or on buy two, get one free, which happens quite regularly. Although they look expensive initially the bottles are HUGE (880ml-ish) and last us for ages. I'd recommend them to anyone (apart from the coconut one, which smells lovely but doesn't foam at all ...)0
