Vodafone sprung a debt on me i didn't know about

Hiya

Looking for some advice please.

I have today had a phon ecall from Fredpay saying I owe them £251.17 on behalf of Vodafone.

I have rang voda and the first few times they couldn't find anything relating to that debt on my account.
Now they are saying it is related to my home broadband account which I haven't paid since Nov 2016 apparently!!! I was told the b/band fee would just go to my normal bill.

There was loads of hassle when I first got the b/band as they tried to reset a landline and reapplied for the landline about 4 times.
bear in mind, in all that time since Nov 2016 I have never lost connection to my internet, except for one time when I was late paying my mobile bill and as soon as I paid it the connection came back.

Seems really fishy to me, how can I approach this.

    A few questions:

1: Do Vodafone have online billing? if so, look there as a first resort.

2: You say you think that the broadband would be billed to the same account as your phone? It may well should but sometimes these accounts don't link, but have you checked?

3: If upon checking, it shows you've been paying the broadband rental fees, go back to the DCA with proof. If you haven't been paying it, you'll have to pay.

Were your normal monthly bills the same or did they rise in line with the amount you were expecting to pay with BB added?

  • Just beware that Vodafone are a nightmare for following debt around. I had 2 months unpaid mobile contract about 15 years ago. I moved house and never paid the bill (naughty) and they went straight to CCJ that I only found out about 3 years later

Not suggesting you just pay this blindly, just to make you aware Vodafone are not to be messed with

Just keep giving them your current address that way you know it's coming up atleast.

Though I too have a CCJ I didn't know about, so need to follow my own advice!
