I've a "fear" of lentils. I remember as a child mum'd cook some orange ones and make a "broth" with a salty ham ... in the pressure cooker. Not for me! I don't like salty ham foods.... or briney looking liquid.

It was always the pressure cooker that put the fear in me. i was terrified to be left in charge of it in case it exploded:o

Using up things going out of date tonight. Cheese slices (why are there so many in a pack!!) in a YS croissant. To be followed at some point by expiring yoghurt with any of the bits of fruit that aren't too manky. :(

Not exactly yum but will feel virtuous that not throwing too much away.

I was just thinking last night that I hadn't had a croissant "stuffed" with something for years. Used to love them filled with mushrooms or ham or chicken in a cheesy sauce with a side salad and pickles. I've bought some for over the Christmas period so might make that one night.:)
  • I can't stop stuffing my face today, I blame the cold weather, lol!:p

I have put a pile of fruit out on the kitchen counter to make a smoothie tomorrow morning as a penance.:A

I know what you mean. I still keep doing the 'dig a bit out of a baked potato half and stick something in the middle' thing, even though I know its a bit of a waste of time. :D but the 'removed potato' just gets scoffed as its only a spoonful while I'm finishing off the other bits for the plate anyway.

I think it does sometimes do that, I keep drinking a lot of very weak coffee with a tiny spoon of hot choc in it, just enough to flavour the otherwise hot water. :) Food wise although I keep mentioning it in the summer I think I must of only had a baked spud once a month or so but now its turned cold I seem to be having quite a few of them. More a comfort thing maybe I guess. I think its 'waffle experiment day' tomorrow, or Sunday evening anyway one or the other.

:) I do want to experiment a little with different 'things with' them too again when I can.

Oh I can confirm my 'micro potato holder' is erm, well not brilliant. It does work to be fair and it seems a bit better than the more commonly available type you see advertised in many places.

My thoughts were actually turning towards potato croquettes as I see the local shop has some frozen ones in. I guess they will zap fine though. :D might make a nice change as I was looking for something like that or hashbrowns.

I'm also now (hurrah!) the proud owner of a "decent branded" Microwave 'browning dish' too, although I have yet to try it out.

It was quite difficult to find one small enough to fit in my micro due to the turntable only being 25cm or so and most of the decent-ish ones are larger. I half suspect some of the "bad" reviews for these are due to either misunderstanding how to use it or possibly (call me a cynic maybe!) a cheap 'clone' imported one that never would work. Time will tell. :D

Wish I'd thought of eating pickles with it now:)

It was a humungous M&S croissant so lots of room for filling and I did throw in some cranberry sauce to make it a bit festive it being 1st December and all that:) Actually much tastier than I was expecting.

Morning all. Think I might be getting free of this lurgy at long last. Woke very early 4am don't know why but feel quite energetic and have steam cleaned kitchen and had a freezer sort out.

I felt like that yesterday too and regretted it later, ended up going to bed at 8.00pm and slept through till 5.00am.

I'll do a couple of chores this morning then feet up in front of the telly this afternoon - just cause I can :D

I had cold rataouille with feta, sounds gross but was actually very tasty because of the herbs.

I much prefer it cold/room temp, I've got some in the freezer so must remember to pick up crusty bread this week and have some for lunch.

Morning all, early start because I am being dragged out looking for "stuff" for the grandchildren, may not be too bad as target is a garden centre that sells plants as a sideline from selling "stuff". It also has an organic stuff shop, which would suit those on here of the "free from" persuasion.

Depending what I find, hoping for perhaps tasty pork pie, organic or otherwise would do nicely for my dinner. I am also looking out for an apple tree, I've decided to dig up the gooseberry & replace with an apple,if I can find the right variety

Because I was up, it was cuppa & toast with Mackay's ginger preserve. My first taste of that one, it is lovely stuff and will get it again

Lunch, may be eating out at the GC cafe, posh cafe though, hand made scones you need a credit card for, 12 types of coffee type of place

Dinner, not sure, see above re pork pie

    Lentils
, urggh, used to like them until I puked them up, never had them again. No idea if it was intolerance to them or what it was, but far easier not to bother trying again

Farway, good to know that it happens to others, a smaller appetite certainly keeps the mind focused ie on eating the right foods, so I chucked yesterdays soup away, all of it and also the extra potato that I had baked. There was potato in the soup and most times it would have been nice but I could not have faced the gloop today, no point beating myself up about it, it would just have been staring at me, a great big bowl of it.

We seem to be on similar trajectory, I binned a pan of soup about a month back, just could not face seeing it appear day after day

    Good morning everyone
Hope all the poorlies are on the road to recovery.

It's back to grey & wet here but it is much milder:).

Usual toast for breakfast and lunch I think will be scrambled egg.

Right I need to get my proverbial out and get the bathroom cleaned.

    Have a good day everyone.
