Am I a first time buyer?

My husband and I last had a mortgage in 2000 and have been renting ever since.
Would a mortgage company class us as First time Buyers again now, or not?
Advice much appreciated.

Why would they not? There is no "cut off time" as far as I am concerned but your status would normally be self declared when applying for a mortgage next time.

Martin Lewis's take on it is that if you have ever purchased a house, anywhere, then you aren't.

But you should clarify with a mortgage company

I can think of one or two lenders who will term you FTBs.

    Most won't.
