Matalan, check your receipt.

Bought some men's jumpers last night. One of them was supposed to be £4 off. Got the assistant to check the price but it was the higher price so I chose a different colour and that came up on the till as the higher price. Assistant realised what was wrong, if he put the Matalan card in before he scanned it came up as lower price. As we were leaving, a lady came back to complain that a skirt she had bought was supposed to be £4 off but she'd been charged the full price.
We were in a hurry so didn't look around the store properly but I think there was a lot of £4 off offers to cardholders. Check your receipt to make sure you're not overcharged.

I noticed the same problem too recently.
It was with the gents polo shirts and the discount didn't come off. The cashier had to get someone to override the till and apply the discount manually.

Yeah only people who have a matalan card will get the 'special money off' deals. If you don't have the card it's full price. The assistant didn't tell me this though I had to ask. I went to buy a skirt and asked if I could use student discount. She said only if it's a special student card (mine is 'normal') so asked how to get a special one and she said she had no idea. So I said well what's the matalan card for and she explained how some purchases are special deals for matalan card holders. So i gave her mine and the skirt came up £4 off :D Would have been full price if I hadn't bothered to check.

I thought you couldn't buy anything at all without a card?

They charged me £1 a couple of years ago for the card. Anyone seen any check shirts in there at a good price? (not those nylon lined "padded" type)
