My Debt

  • Hi,

i would say dont consolidate, you'll only pay more in the long run and not be able to spend your money on better things like cars and enjoying yorself, your bank will be doing this for you instead!

Put all of your availible cash on your credit cards as these are costing you a fortune, pay them off and get rid!

I don't want to scare you away, but if I were you i'd scale back and pay the debts off, cut down all your spending you can to a minimum and get the debt cleared, then you can start with a clean slate.

I got into lots of debt at uni, overdrafts maxed out, credit cards maxed and missed payments, loans, then I cut back, cleared it all and now things are great, debt costs you money and holds you back, get rid!

can you get a better deal on your train ticket? £220 a month? or is that just coz im not used to living in london
Mortgage £120K, monthly overpayment £600, 18 years and £100K saved
  • You say that you have to buy lunches at work, could you not take a packed lunch. It really is a big money saver.
I see that you already make a loan repayment, what was this for? I do hope that this wasn't used to clear a cc previously.

  • Hi there, the same as some others have said I really wouldn't consolidate, I've done it, before I saw the light, never again, you will just run the debts up again & again & again, as Lookingahead & I have both done.
Try to see if you can change your credit cards to 0% & try & get rid of the overdrafts as the money they are costing you in interest ( always high ) could be getting rid of bigger debts.
You just have to change your attitude to spending, do you want to be like this for years & years or could you manage a year or so being a bit tight, making do & thinking about what you spend so that in years to come you won't have to, sorry if I sound miserable, I'm really not, seeing my debts shrink is a bigger buzz than paying £40 on a meal I didn't particularly enjoy ( that's a weeks food:rotfl: ).
Good luck & a Debt is a Debt however big or small if it's unmanagable & you're losing sleep over it then it's a problem, better to nip it in the bud.
Well done for posting, you will get loads of help on here & I wish you the best of luck
