OK so I am new here, well not new BUT haven't posted much.
THIS is a whole new learning curve for me AND I dont know if i will ever be mortgage free BUT alls i can do is TRY.
I am in a MH unit at the mo, after being in a psychiatric hospital for 6 weeks ( my 10th admission in 5 years from 2 week stays to 5 months) I WANT to get better for me and my son. I WILL get better.
I want to get healthier to be here for my 5 year old.
Off to read some diaries for some inspiration.
ANY help/advice would be fab?

My biggest bit of advice is to go slowly....Mortgage's are a long term debt (hopefully made shorter by overpaying), so set yourself small realistic targets along the way.
I find that keeps me motivated and on track as I feel with each mini goal that I am achieving something.
Best of luck with your health and mortgageFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
Sound advice from Kittenkirst there.
Ensure you have a budget, work out where you can save money from your budget without restricting yourself too much, identify where you can make some extra money from doing surveys, cashback websites and selling things and use this towards your overpayments. Even the smallest overpayments can make a difference in the long term.0 -
THANK YOU
Well my current Mortgage is £20,712.46 RIGHT now i cannot afford ANY over payments
Our house was valued at £210, 000 In next March/ april IF we get a divorce I will buy Ex hubby out so say we owe £20,000 by then and half of £210, 00- is £95, 000 so i will have a mortgage of £115,000 BUT will have to add solisters fee on top of this.
I currently get ESA £219.30 every 2 weeks I do get DLA this has been stopped as i am in a MH residential unit till wed 26th July, this will then start again at £416 a month. so i get£854 a month BUT DLA is due to go over to PIP in Sep so i may not get that anymore.
Each month out goings are:
Mortgage £113,28
C tax ??? Not sure I paid ex husband £100 this month as they charged him
Pet insurance £5.24
Water £32
Gas/eletricity/Broadband/phone £82
Mobile phone £28 ( this ends in oct will go PAYG i think)
Mobile phone insurance £15 ( this will end in oct too) Boiler cover£19
Tv licence £12.12
Total£387.64
I save £20 for the cat each month ( to cover injections and cat biscuits)
I save £15 for home insurance each month ( Its due jan)
I save £25 for christmas and birthday pressies
Total £447,64
Leaves me £405 for food & spending money. I shop at iceland and spend £40-£45 ish a week on food for me and my son-he is with me 4 x week days for teas and all day on sun. I get my eye brow threaded once a month is £7 so that leaves £218 a month.
THIS is from 26 th JULY right now i get £25 a week as i pay for my MH placement It comes out of my ESA. ( if i had been section it would be free but because i went in vol its not!)
I have £2500 which was my old car money ( haven't been stable enough to drive in 5 years so sold my car) this is the only savings i have.
I am thinking about seeing if I can get a job from aug working as a supply nursery nurse but because of my MH i am not sure if i am allowed still to work with children. OR if i can cope with a job, I think ESA allow you to earn up to £120 a week BUT i have to be allowed to work so need to call them as might not be allowed too.
