Is it bad to ask when my first pay day will be?

We offer an advance (at least informally) to any new joiner who won't get onto payroll in their first month. So I've got someone starting next Monday, and I finalised payroll today, without adding them.At the other end of the spectrum, one of my previous employers actively offered an advance on salary to new joiners, to help them over the first few weeks. I guess that's fairly rare though.
If the OP finds that their first payday isn't going to be until August, and that's going to cause a problem, it is always worth asking about an advance.Signature removed for peace of mind0
