Mortgage from UK Lender for USA Property - Advice Needed!
MidAtlantic
Hi - does anyone have experience of this?
My girlfriend (US Citizen) and I (UK Citizen, not yet permanent resident) are looking to buy a house in the US. She is ex-military, but now in full-time education and the money to service the mortgage will come from me alone for the next year until she graduates.
Because we're not married, we're unable to get a VA mortgage and it also seems to be hugely complicated to get a mortgage myself as a non-national.
I understand that there are UK lenders who will finance US properties, but I can't seem to find any. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? Anything would be gratefully received, thanks.

I can't see how a UK lender will lend on an asset which is valued in USD.
I prepare to be corrected though.0
