Also, quick question - does anyone have a source for a ready made house for colouring in? Or advice on how to do it myself?2

Hi Viking, when I did mine I copied a photo of my house from google street view into Paint and then did five boxes on each row using the line tool representing a £1000 so the top row of boxes goes upto £5k, the next one down £10K, the next one down £15K and so on until I got to my mortgage amount (I hope this makes sense! Lol!). I did work it out on a piece of paper first so I knew how many rows I would need. It probably wasn't the easiest way to do it but it looks good! :rotfl:Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!1 -
Thanks Jessy - I shall give that a go when we get to the new house (fingers crossed!).
Mortgage appointment tomorrow...2 -
Just catching up on your diary now, very fortunate to be gifted a washing machine so makes the MS a bit easier! Good luck with the mortgage appointment tomorrow....and making £10/day I am also going to attempt to print off a picture of my house....Not on google streetview yet so I will have to take my own!
Fab news about the £100 OP!31st July 2017 - Mortgage: £136902
Try to: make OPs of £425/month and save £500/month
Aim to: be mortgage free by August 20291 -
Hi Mrs PD
Well, we have a shiny new washing machine care of the in-laws - not only that but the delivery slot that they gave us was 7-8am and they rocked up on the dot of 7. Prompt, polite, helpful, competent... So grateful!
And then we had our mortgage advisor appointment on the phone - all sorted and applied for, and a thousand pounds forked over for the privilege *gulp* All looking good though. We're going to be on a 30 year term but she usefully calculated it on a 29 year term too - which means that we know if we OP £28 a month for the duration it takes off a year at the end. Might do that for the satisfactionWe're going onto a 5 year fix at 1.94% which means with a much larger mortgage the monthly interest will be about the same as now. Still sofa-falling off high, but with a better idea about what it is and how well we're progressing!
The survey came back yesterday with the normal proportion of gloom and doom. Nothing that looks too evil though.
Today has been a chilling at home day with the guests. A few leftovers eaten up. I did nip to Mr A and acquire a couple of items for a picnic for tomorrow, but again we're mostly using stuff we already have. Tomorrow will be another day of spending - we're going to the mini golf!2 -
Happy NSD yesterday, ate out of leftovers/ freezer. Off to my parents for the weekend. There's a bunch of my stuff in storage there that they want me to sort out, so I'll have to see if there's anything else worth selling or if it's all tippable.
Have a lovely MFW weekend everyone.2 -
Hurrah, finally shifted our old king size mattress to the fourth person who arranged a time to get it but the first one to turn up. We asked for a fiver but he gave us a tenner since we had no change, plus we've saved the money we'd have had to pay the council to get rid of it. £10 to the OP fund. That's £110/200 for the month.
Last week turned up mostly rubbish but found a couple of extra things to send off to Vintage Cashcow. Which I will actually post tomorrow.2 -
Great result on the mattress:). You're doing well with your freezer use up. I've just reorganised mine and done an inventory. The next few weeks will be operation use up as I'm good at putting things in but often end up with a huge stock pile of stuff that I don't use:o
PP xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!1 -
Thanks PP. We've also had a special offer on Gousto that got us three meals for two, for a tenner. We've really enjoyed them. Both agree it wouldn't be worth full price, but that at that price it's a complete bargain. One of the recipes we'll be holding on to (West African Chicken Maffe) and it's something that looks like it will lend itself to batch cooking too.
A few more things gone from the freezer and store cupboard over the week but I need to have a serious check for next week's menus. We do have six eggs from our in laws chickens so I expect omelettes will be on the horizon somewhere.2
