Sofa purchased during house move

Hi folks

I have finally purchased a house and have now moved in to my new address.

My wife and I put down a deposit on a new sofa from harveys and were going to fund it by monthly installments.

The issue I have now is that I didn't realise it took so long for credit rating agencies to move my address on file.

I am moving through the wall from my parents after staying there for the last 18 months.

Can I still apply for the sofa on credit with my old address? Can I apply with my new address?

Please help. Thanks.

This is a common thing with these sorts of companies as of course many people buy need sofas etc when they move. I done similar when I moved but for a fridge.

You can apply for the credit with your old address if the CRA haven't caught up. The company will gladly delivery to the new address.

Remember to set up mail re-direction (Or in your case, tell your parents to give you your mail) and to update your address with the finance company once you've got everything sorted.

Edit: Darn you ZX81, cross post with completely opposite answer.

I recently just did the same with Harveys. Had to do the application with my old address 9as would have never passed credit checks on the new address) and then once we had moved I had to take in 2 letters showing my new address for them to deliver to my new address. Took about 3 days for Head office to action this on there computers.

Just to add once in my new address I applied for a new phone contract and was declined and it was to do with the CRA's not recognising me at the new address.

An application at your old address would be fraudulent - you are knowingly making a false declaration in order to get credit. You'd probably get away with it, but if for whatever reason you found yourself unable to keep up payments at a later date you would find yourself in hot water.

Hi lizbrag. Did you change address via voters roll?
