This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone,
Another muggy night, so I didn’t sleep very well again. I’ve been up and about since 4.00am. Same as yesterday, I woke up about 3.30am and couldn’t get back to sleep so I’ve got up, got the doors and windows open and been reading. There is a plus side to this thought, it is nice to sit with a cup of tea and watch the dawn. I am grateful that I don’t have to go to work on such little sleep so can have a nap later; in that respect I am lucky.
There are a lot of us not sleeping well at the moment. It’s nice to have the warm summer weather but it does make sleeping difficult. I think an afternoon nap will be called for today again.
It was lovely weather here yesterday. On the local forecast there had been a number of storms in the area but it all missed us here. We had a light shower about 9.00pm and that was all, and the forecast for today looks good.
I went to the park and did a bit of people watching yesterday. It is interesting how people seem to behave so different in the hot weather. It is nice to see happy smiling faces though. In the park they have a massive screen up during the summer and show films in the open air, and at the moment Wimbledon is being shown every afternoon. It seems to keep a lot of people out of the shops in the town and was fairly quiet when I popped into town.
Today if it isn’t too hot I want to get a bit of baking done again, as I have agreed to do a few bits for a charity fete this weekend. I will then probably go for a wander around the park again this afternoon.
Today I am going to pop out shortly to get the few fresh bits and pieces that I need for the weekend. I’m hoping to get out and back before it gets too hot.
This afternoon I may go and have a walk around the park, keeping to the shady areas, and maybe sit and people watch for a little while.
I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning everyone
HollyHarvey - thanks for starting us off, you'll need a nap later after such an early start x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Beautiful clear sky and sunshine to start the day, very warm already.
DH up and gone to work early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly as he wants a lift into town with me this morning.
Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, carrots, HG broad beans, broc, peas, LO yorkshires and gravy. Tonight I'm not sure but will be organising later as I'll be doing food shopping today.
Yesterday I wasn't very motivated as the incident that had happened during the night dragged on to nearly all day and as I'd been awake most of the night I didn't really feel up to doing much, I managed to get into town and do what was needed there. I did also do 3 x loads of washing and got it all line dried, stripped, washed and dried our bed linen and put it back on.
On to today -
I have a pedicure first thing, so my feet look half way decent whilst I'm on hols. Once that's done I'll be visiting L**l to do my food shopping as where I normally go will be horrific by that time on a Friday morning, hoping L**l won't be quite so bad. I must do the ironing, as it's rather a large pile now.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to all in need, waves to Lame wolf.
We didn't get the promised storm here so I expect it will be hot again.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey.
Another bright as sunny day - yesterday we were meant to have a storm but it didn't happen.
In common with possibly most of us, I've been sleeping poorly but last night was so exhausted that I went to bed at 9 and slept until 5, with one quick loo break. I feel a lot better for a decent sleep.
Not much to do today, other than a bit of mild window cleaning.
I hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Weird dreams all night for me. No matter how I convince myself I'm fine, my dreams tell me otherwise.
It will pass.
Onwards and forwards

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting. Surprisingly I slept till 6.00, despite the muggy weather. I thought I had crept quietly down the stairs but youngest DGD heard me and followed me down. She is now watching some raucous American rubbish on Nick. Gone are the days of Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol! Middle DGD will be to waken up shortly.
Once the girls have been despatched to school I have the dubious pleasure of the Friday Tidy and clean round. In this heat it will be a half hearted effort. We never got the rain yesterday and by the time late tea was over, DS had gone home and the girls put to bed, I CBA going out to water the pots etc. so must do that today before they all shrivel and die!
There's a pile of ironing from the 2 washer loads I did yesterday but I am turning a blind eye to that until it cools down! Not given a thought to today's meals but it won't involve anything that means putting the oven on and turning the kitchen into a sauna!
Have a good day folks and (HUGS) to the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Another scorcher in store today, we were all melting in the kitchen yesterday and the clients were very hot and bothered and we had a few arguments, I thought one would turn into a fight but we managed to distract them long enough for them to forget it !
Off there again today and all weekend which I am not looking forward to at all in this heat !
Takeaway and wine night tonight  which is great, and I also need to wash my work t-shirts so that I have enough for the weekend.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning folks.
Still raining, never stopped yesterday.. Just to compound the misery camelot sent me a text from France showing her cold beer and red hot westher....
My laptop gave me more problems, I think it's on its last legs. As my broadband speed here is so slow (2mbps) everything takes so long to sort out or download programmes. I'll probably have to wait until next week when I'm back in Glasgow to sort it properly out.
Anyway, my day will be fine. Yoghurt for first meal and then chicken salad for later. The second marking documentation is missing chunks of assessment material, I'm so dis-chuffed with my colleague. He's doing the student's such a disservice.
I hope everyone has a good Friday.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) if you need one.
Awake early, could not drop off again. Got the council men coming this morning re the shed, fingers crossed please that the meeting goes well. We desperately need a new shed.
Very hot yesterday, we took my friend shopping at Aldi, when we got back to her flat we could not unlock the door, the centre part of the lock fell out into the flat. The manager had to get a locksmith in to sort the door. She insisted we came home, she was ok. Rang just after 4.30 she was in the flat and the chap had just gone after 2 1/2 hours sorting the lock out.
It looks like another very hot day today, will be doing as little as possible.
Fish and chips tonight, I dare say there will be raspberries too.0 -
Morning all x Thanks Holly for kicking us off x
Well managed to get to hearing test yesterday and my hearing is fine so no need for aids just yet. He did notice that I seem to have some irration in the left ear so will mention it to doc when I see him.
Dinner last night was burgers and wedges.
DD1 and DGD popped in yesterday afternoon and DGD spent most of her time in the garden playing with a neighbours cat .
DD2 spent the night at DD1 house as she is babysitting tonight and wanted to know DGD bedtime routine. So peaceful night here.
No real rain yesterday so feeling warm already here today.
Got bedding in the WM and will put it on the line when done. DW ready to go on and just a quick flick round is all that's needed today.
Need to spray varnish the newist fairy house to add to the fairy village now it's paints dry.
Apart from that not a lot gapping here today.
Hugs to all in need xxBright Blessings xx0
